“Felix is Sarah’s heart. They’re each other’s everything. Other than Kira in Sarah’s life, Felix is her family and who she wants to be with. They’re very much siblings, in the sense that they need each other deeply, and yet they use each other and they manipulate each other. Felix is an incredible sounding board for all of Sarah’s fears and all of Sarah’s confusion and the calm in the craziness of her life.” [x]
“Felix and Sarah are at a place in their lives where they’re both very guarded against each other, and at the same time they desperately need one another. My character isn’t super trustworthy, and Felix knows that, and as much as he deeply wants her to be there for him and for them to be a family, it’s just impossible for someone like her. Sarah wants the same thing, too, only she’s just not able to be that person he needs her to be, but other than her daughter, Felix is everything to her. At the same time you see their relationship deepen, it also begins to unravel and becomes threatened by Sarah’s relationships with these other women, these clones. Jordan Garvaris and I talked about the fact that there’s a part of Felix that is a bit jealous of Sarah, and that maybe she has a place. Perhaps after all this time, she’s found this family that she truly does belong to. So there’s an interesting betrayal that happens in their relationship as well as that deepening dependency on each other that I spoke about. It’s very much a case of two siblings who can love and hate one another in the same moment. It’s such a well-written relationship for that reason, and also Felix is hilarious and keeps Sarah from jumping off a bridge herself, so to speak. So he gives her a great deal of himself.” [x]

Marwa Atik was born and raised in the California to Syrian parents. Her passion for the veil (hijab), combined with her eye for fashion and design expertise, is apparent in her exclusive creations. Vela was born in 2009, when Marwa simply began incorporating her favorite accents, such as ruffles and zippers, into otherwise bland veils and advertising via word of mouth. Marwa also extended her creativity to designing actual techniques of how to wear the veils, based on their respective designs and style.
In 2010, Marwa and her sister, Tasneem Atik Sabri, partnered to officially launch their company and website to bring beautiful, elegant, and affordable veils to women globally.

Q: How did you prepare before shooting?
Tatiana Maslany: I worked with a dialect coach for all the different dialects. I also worked a lot on movement. I took a studio by myself, and put on my characters’ playlists—I had various different playlists for each character—and I just explored a space however that music moved me, music that felt or sounded like that character, the rhythm or the emotion or the aggression behind it. There’s something about music that makes me feel like a different person, that feels like an escape. I also read a lot about gang culture, the nature of being an orphan, the science of cloning, and about identical twins. It turns out twins tend to be a lot more similar than a clone would be since they share a womb, and so much information is passed to us while in the womb, and that wouldn’t happen for clone. That also gave me some room. I’m sure there will be some unavoidable similarities, since it’s always me playing these characters, but I really want to blow them out and make them as different from one another as possible.
